Prologue

"But make no mistake, little doe. I want what's between your legs in return."

Her gasp isn't one of outrage.

It's of pleasure.

Her body softens against mine, her breathing becoming quicker with every second.

"Did you like that?" I murmur. "When I called you little doe, Nandini?"

Her eyes widen.

She looks almost startled by her own reaction, the surprise in her face is childlike, as though she's just stumbled upon a part of herself she never knew existed.

Then she nods.

That tiny admission nearly pushes me to the brink of madness.

"Yes," She whispers. "I think so."

She seems to become more conscious of every point where our bodies meet, biting down on her lower lip as she shifts restlessly against me.

"You think so?"

I drag my teeth lightly along the side of her neck, pressing her more firmly into the locker as a rough sound catches in my throat.

"I'm going to check between your legs and make sure."

For a few breathless seconds, she simply looks at me.

Then she gives another one of her tiny nods.

"O-Okay."

Harsh Vardhan has spent his entire life mastering the crease.

Off it, he's even harder to reach. Private, disciplined, and fiercely protective of the life he's built, he doesn't let people past his defenses.

All the media knows is that India's star batsman walked away from the esteemed, billion-dollar Jadhav Group, leaving behind a fortune, a legacy, and the title of its sole heir.

No one knows why.

Until Nandini Khurana steps into his dressing room.

She was supposed to be temporary. A medical intern with a career to save and no intention of getting tangled up with India's most guarded cricketer.

But Harsh doesn't do temporary.

Once Nandini becomes the object of his obsession, distance is no longer an option. Neither is letting her walk away.

He wants her beside him.

In his life.

In his heart.

At the center of everything he calls his own.

For Nandini, falling for Harsh is something only happening in dreams.

For Harsh, losing her isn't even in nightmare.

Because some matches are won long before the final ball.

And Harsh Vardhan intends to make sure this one is his.

For good.
